INDEPENDENT STATUTORY INSPECTION SERVICES
PSSR. The Pressure System Safety Regulations 2000
The Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 have replaced the Pressure Systems and Transportable Gas Containers Regulations 1989 and require pressure systems to be inspected in accordance with a Written Scheme of Examination. The regulations apply to owners and users of relevant fluids including steam, gases under pressure and any fluid kept artificially under pressure and which becomes a gas when released to the atmosphere.
A thorough examination together with Written Scheme of Examination is required.
The scope of pressure plant requiring Statutory Thorough examination by a competent person together with intervals of inspection are detailed in the following:
Normally Minor & / or Intermediate, however, those systems where the vessel is of less than 250 bar liters stored energy are exempt from the requirement to have a written scheme of examination but not from the other regulations.
The periodicity is as stated in the Written Scheme of Examination (but these are normally )
i) Receivers and System
Working examination 12 monthly
Thorough examination 24 monthly
ii) Air / oil separators
Working examination 12 monthly
Thorough examination 72 monthly
Note:-
However the Competent Person may vary these periodicity's at his discretion in the light of his findings after a thorough examination and/or consultation with the client.
